Michael and Marjorie Raetz, owners of the Miners Arms Fine Accommodation took out the B&B award with an ‘elegant but unpretentious and uncompromised heritage renovation’ of the old 1888 pub on the corner of Kaolin and Crystal Street.

There is always a lot on in Broken Hill and District.

The Scheduled events listed on the visit Broken Hill web site are a good start. http://www.visitbrokenhill.com.au/events.asp

Also have a look at what exhibitions are on at the Regional Gallery in Argent street and the Geocentre in Crystal Street.

Have a look at the local tours, and consider a self drive tour along the front of the beautiful Barrier Ranges from Williangie to Silverton close to Sunset. You can finish up at Sunset up on the Mundi Mundi lookout near Silverton.

Now we are coming into March, the weather, though still hot is getting better. However the heat is dry and it is always cool inside the Miners Arms. You will need a hat and stay in the shade where you can, the beer garden at Silverton is a good start.  Interestingly we had one of our best family holidays here one year in January, before we moved to Broken Hill.

Enjoy the visit.
